Advice after a fire

Don’t get into the damaged place; make certain with the Firefighters Department that your house is safe. Don’t cut nor get through colour security strips placed on windows or doors to warn about damaged areas, unless the authorities allow you to do it without danger. Remember that fires can rekindle in a moment from unseen smouldering sites. Generally, the Fire Department will make sure before leaving the place, that all the services (water, electricity and natural gas) can be used without danger or that they are disconnected. Don’t try to make them work by yourself. Be careful about structural damage caused by fire. Floors and roofs may have been weakened and liable to collapse. You mustn’t take food, drinks or medicines that have been exposed to heat, smoke, soot and water. Don’t try to repair valuables; you could do more harm than good.
